George Everett Eldred was born in Clayville, on February 17, 1876, and attended preparatory school at Colgate Academy, graduating in 1895. He graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelor's of Philosophy in 1899.
Eldred held positions with the testing department of General Electric in Schenectady (1900); as a rodman in the Department of Yards and Docks at New York Navy Yard (1901); as an inspector with the Pressed Steel Car Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1902); in the testing department of General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts (1902-1903); as a statistician at Yale Gymnasium (1904-1906); with the Isthmian Canal Commission of New York (summer 1905); as a graduate student in statistics at Harvard University (1906-1907); and as a statistician in Schenectady beginning in 1907. He died in Schenectady on August 8, 1947.
Scope and Contents note
This collection contains one undated notebook with a handwritten record of Yale College graduates who died between 1860 and 1868. The notebook belonged to George Eldred, but the author is unclear.
