Digital Resources - on campus
Most digital resources are available to anyone who comes into the Colgate University Libraries. Visitors are encouraged to ask assistance of the Reference Staff who can suggest appropriate resources.
The notable exception to this is SciFinder Scholar (the online successor to Chemical Abstracts). Its license limits use to only members of the Colgate University community and only for not-for-profit purposes.
Digital Resources - Free
Free resources on the Databases A-Z page are indicated with a globe symbol
and anyone may have access from on or off-campus. The one exception to this is PubMed where the license record sends users through the college proxy to assure Colgate users can access subscribed journals. Non-Colgate users can follow this link to PubMed or enter http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed in your browser.
A list of only the FREE Resources in Databases A-Z is also available.
Digital Resources - Provided to NY State residents via NovelNY
There are a number of resources on the Databases A-Z list which are provided as part of the NovelNY program. The links on the Colgate University Libraries web pages will not work from off campus for non-Colgate users. From off-campus, users can go to the NovelNY web site and can log in using their New York State driver's license number or Non-driver Photo ID. Additionally, many public libraries provide access using library card numbers.
The list of resources changes on a regular basis but includes one or more general research databases with full text journals, a business database, a health database, and a newspaper database.
