Classroom Use Policies for the Picker Classroom, Cronin Learning Lab, and Grover-Hargrove Digital Learning and Media Center

No classrooms may be reserved as the primary classroom for courses or for semester-long activities.  Four seminar rooms are available for this purpose with reservations made through the Registrar.  Food is not allowed but beverages in covered containers are permitted

Picker Classroom, Level 3 –Room 345, East Side

Equipment:  30 workstations (plus podium-mounted instructor PC), data projector and wall-mounted screen, VCR, DVD, sound system.

  • Primarily available for Library/ITS classroom instruction
  • Reserved exclusively for Library/ITS instruction first six weeks and free period (Tues., 11:30am-1:20pm) each semester
  • Reserved exclusively as open lab space for individuals the last three weeks of classes.
  • Other times in the semester the lab is available for academic instruction and campus workshops requiring computers that end by 7:00pm.
  • In the summer and intersessions, the lab is available for academic instruction and campus workshops requiring computers Mon.-Fri., 9:00am to 4:00pm.
  • Available for individual use as an open computer lab for Colgate community members when not reserved for instruction
  • Contact Karen Johnston x7361 to check availability and make arrangements
Cronin Learning Lab, Level 5 – Room 501, West Corridor

Equipment:  20 workstations (plus podium-mounted instructor PC), data projector and wall-mounted screen, VCR, DVD, sound system

  • Primarily available for Library/ITS classroom instruction
  • Reserved exclusively for Library/ITS instruction for fall and spring semesters
  • In the summer and intersessions, the lab may be available for academic instruction and campus workshops requiring computers Mon.-Fri., 9:00am to 4:00pm
  • Available for individual use as an open computer lab for Colgate community members when not reserved for instruction

Grover Hargrove Digital Learning and Media Center, Level 5, Room 548

Equipment: 16 networked individual Macintosh workstations and 4 MacBook Pro laptops with media editing software.  Instructor’s networked workstation includes data projection control of all computers in the room, wall-mounted screen, Blu-Ray DVD player, and state-of-the-art surround sound system to fully integrate educational technology

  • Primary function is to support ITS/Libraries classroom media instruction and for regular course sessions in which the faculty and students will need on-going access to resources for teaching and learning about media editing and creation
  • Primarily reserved for ITS/Libraries media use each semester and as needed for media-intensive regular courses
  • Secondary use is as a media lab for students and faculty editing and creating media projects. The space serves as a computer lab exclusively for media editing and creation
  • Otherwise available to Colgate University students and faculty for instructional sessions or workshops during academic intercessions and summers with priority given to Library and ITS activities
  • Multiple course sessions may be taught in the lab by faculty but this does not serve as the primary classroom
  • Overseen by the ITS Department; contact Sarah Kunze (x6791), Instructional Technologist, to make arrangements for access and use

NOTE: COMPUTER CONFIGURATION

New users should contact the ITS Helpline at 228-7111 to arrange for a classroom orientation.

If a user group with a computer lab/classroom reservation needs software installed, please contact the ITS Helpline, 228-7111, well in advance of the session.
