Participants in short-term educational programs at Colgate who are issued identification cards by the university may be granted temporary borrowing privileges if the use of library materials is integral to the program and if the program accepts responsibility for the return or replacement of borrowed materials. The borrower’s card for these users is the Colgate-issued ID. Requests for temporary borrowing privileges should be made directly to the University Librarian, and the granting of and terms of privileges must be approved by the University Librarian.

Other persons temporarily in residence at Colgate are not normally granted borrowing privileges. Exceptions are at the discretion of the University Librarian.

The borrowers card for regular borrowers, including Colgate students, faculty, administrators, and staff, is the Gatecard or other valid Colgate-issued ID. The borrowers card for Reciprocal Borrowers is a valid ID from an institution with which Colgate has established an agreement to offer reciprocal borrowing privileges. Other uses receive a Visiting Borrowers Card. The card must be presented when borrowing library materials.
