Periodicals Archives Online contains the full text of over 500 titles with coverage from the 1770's through to 1995. This collection adds significant content which has not been available before in online format to the Colgate Community. A list of titles by broad subject is also available.

Wiley is merging the Blackwell Synergy online journals into its Wiley Interscience online journal collection. During the migration - both systems will be unavailable. Jstor Life Sciences Collection Added
The Jstor Life Sciences Collection combines two existing subscriptions - the General Science and Health and the Ecology and Botany Collections - with a new collection - the Biological Sciences Collection. This makes it the largest collection in Jstor with over 5.5 million pages scheduled to grow to 7 million. At its completion, it will comprise a minimum of 160 titles spanning disciplines in the biological, health, and general sciences.

Vanderbilt Television News Archive added
The Vanderbilt Television News Archive has been added complements of the Core Program which paid for the first year subscription. It is the world's most extensive and complete archive of television news. Broadcasts from CNN and NBC are available as streaming videos. The Archive covers news broadcasts from 1968 to present.

Index to Christian Art added
The Index to Christian Art has been added. The database presently contains nearly 80,000 work of art records which are accompanied by over one-hundred thousand images in color and black and white. Many of these images have never before been digitized and are published here for the first time.

Science available online
A subscription to Science Magazine online from the American Association for the Advancement of Science has been placed. Articles from 1997-present are available. With this subscription, the entire run from 1880 to present is now available online either from the AAAS or Jstor.
Please note that articles from Science Signaling and Science Express are not available through the institutional subscription.

Access to the Chronicle of Higher Education Online
The Colgate Libraries have switched to an online subscription for the Chronicle of Higher Education. We have received the last print issue and everything henceforth will be online-only with the exception of an archival copy on microfilm. Access to the Chronicle online, with issues back to 1995, is available to the entire campus through MONDO or JournalFinder on the Libraries webpage.
The Chronicle has an RSS feed which has been included on the Colgate Portal homepage. It is also available at http://chronicle.com/news/rss.xml . Help in setting up an RSS feed is also available at http://chronicle.com/help/rss.htm. Note: the latter two links will only work with on-campus access.

Patrologia Latina (Proquest/Chadwyck Healy)
The Patrologia Latina Database is an electronic version of the first edition of Jacques-Paul Migne's Patrologia Latina, published between 1844 and 1855, and the four volumes of indexes published between 1862 and 1865. The Patrologia Latina comprises the works of the Church Fathers from Tertullian in 200 AD to the death of Pope Innocent III in 1216. The database contains the complete Patrologia Latina, including all prefatory material, original texts, critical apparatus and indexes. Migne's column numbers, essential references for scholars, are included. [May 19, 2006]
The rolls of parliament were the official records of the meetings of the English parliament from the reign of Edward I (1272 – 1307) until the reign of Henry VII (1485 – 1509), after which they were superseded by the journals of the lords and, somewhat later, of the commons. The rolls, which amount in total to over four million words, were first edited in the eighteenth century and published in 1783 in six folio volumes entitled Rotuli Parliamentorum ( RP) under the general editorship of the Reverend John Strachey. This new edition reproduces the rolls edited in RP in their entirety, plus those subsequently published by Cole, Maitland, and Richardson and Sayles as well as a substantial amount of material never previously published, together with a full translation of all the texts from the three languages used by the medieval clerks (Latin, Anglo-Norman and Middle English). It also includes an introduction to every parliament known to have been held by an English king (or in his name) between 1275 and 1504, whether or not the roll for that parliament survives. History E-Book Project from ACLS (American Council of Learned Societies)
- a collection of over 1,100 full text history books selected by committees from the American Council of Learned Societies and then evaluated by a panel of experts. Approximately 250 new titles are added per year. Records have been added to the Library's catalog. Many of the titles duplicate those held in print by the library allowing students to browse content online prior to requesting the title from LASR or to have immediate access to titles which are unavailable.

Announcing ARTstor
New to Colgate's ever-growing collection of digital resources is ARTstor, a database that offers visual images for educational use. Like its sibling, Jstor, ARTstor is a project of the Mellon Foundation:
ARTstor is a non-profit organization created by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. ARTstor has developed a digital library of images (including art, architecture and archeology) and descriptive data. ARTstor also provides software tools to enable active use of the images. The tools support a wide range of uses including analyzing images, saving groups of images online, and creating and delivering presentations both online and offline. This is a resource available only for non-commercial, educational uses.
ARTstor's definition of "art" is encompassing. It includes architecture, painting, photography, prints, drawings, sculpture, decorative arts and design, as well as archeological and anthropological objects.

Descriptive data about each digital image including such information as creator, title, object date, creator birth/death dates. Most data include subject headings allowing searching by topics.
