What is LASR (ARS)?
Phase I in the construction of a new Case Library and Center for Information Technology involved building an Automated Storage and Retrieval System -- in our case a three-story array of racks holding storage bins with a capacity of approximately 550,000 volumes.

What materials are in LASR (ARS)?
The entire part of the collection cataloged in the Dewey Decimal system, periodicals (except current issues), media (music, films, CD-ROMs and microforms) and other items are available to patrons for check out from the LASR system.
How do I request items from LASR (ARS)?
Requests from Colgate's Library Catalog (online catalog) will prompt one of two SRM’s (Storage Retrieval Machines), pictured above left, to retrieve the bin with the needed material. Requested items will be available for patron pick-up at the Circulation Desk at Case-Geyer Library within 10 minutes of request during normal operational hours.

online catalog records for items stored in LASR reflect the item location "LASR ____" and have a "Request this item" button in the location box. Click that button, supply your name on the next screen, and if your request is successful the item will be retrieved and delivered to the Circulation Desk for pick-up.
Requests initiated using Encore - the library's new keyword search interface - use the term Request from ARS.
